Important Dates and Deadlines for this Month

July 1

  • July 1 is frequently the starting point for the introduction of new and revised employment laws and regulations, which we will be listing below.

Topics to Discuss and/or Review

  • As happens on July 1 every year, many municipalities increase their minimum wage. These increases are effective for all of your non-exempt employees and must be implemented on or before any work done on July 1. For clients with access to the Forms Library, see the chart, “Minimum Wage Rates by State and Municipality” in the folder “Compensation & Payroll” > “State Laws” > “Compensation and Payroll Information By State Spreadsheets”.  See also, “Minimum Salary Levels for Executive, Administrative and Professional Employees by State” in the folder, “Exempt vs Non-Exempt” > “State Specific Guidance”.
  • As July is now in full swing, we want to provide a quick follow-up to our June Compliance Alert which highlighted key changes and deadlines for July 1st. Many of those important updates are now in effect, and it's essential to ensure your practices align with these new requirements. Since last month's communication, we've also seen some additional clarifications and minor updates in the regulatory landscape that warrant your attention. This alert serves as a timely reminder of those critical changes now in force and points to recent developments to ensure your continued compliance. Please take a moment to review this information and ensure your operations reflect the latest guidance. Review Latest Labor Law Updates. For clients with access to the Forms Library, for a more comprehensive overview of the changes, see the chart, “2025 July 1st Compliance Chart” in the “Employment Law Overview by State” Folder.

Note: This calendar is designed to help our clients review the key human resources-related reporting and notice requirements that may apply to their organizations. Please note that this list is for general reference purposes only and is not all-inclusive. Many of the compliance requirements are complex ERISA or other statutory legal filings and responsibilities may vary depending on your company’s plans. We encourage you to consult with your insurance brokers, plan administrators, and/or your ERISA and tax advisors for further guidance.
